 Early childhood education refers to preschool and kindergarten age children.
Kindergarten teachers work with children to increase their knowledge about shapes, numbers, and colors as well as how to improve social skills and basic hygiene. Early childhood education is often the first and most important stages of a child’s future education.
Early childhood education teachers must be fun, flexible, comfortable enforcing rules and must have creativity in order to foster the best overall learning environment for these young children. Plus, early childhood education teachers must be able to manage large groups of young children. And while to some this may be a relatively simple task, many first time teachers are often overwhelmed at how demanding an entire classroom of young children can be.
In addition to teaching basic concepts within a kindergarten classroom, these teachers are also placed in charge or observing the social and mental abilities and development of these young children. Many common childhood learning issues begin to surface during these early years. So an early childhood education teacher must be equipped with recognizing, communicating their findings to the parents and fostering ongoing learning in the event that a behavioural or learning disability is discovered.
Children often learn in a variety of different ways. Early childhood education teachers must also be equipped with a variety of learning tools and tricks, in order to vary their teaching methods for the variety of children within their classroom. Utilizing a variety of learning materials, and creative learning environments will broaden the learning spectrum for young students. Also, imaginative play is an important component of an early childhood curriculum. |
